Don’t let the snow day get the best of you! Even if you find yourself unable to get out of your PJ’s all day, do something great for yourself with these easy, DIY beauty treatment recipes- when you do have to go back to the real world, you will be refreshed and rejuvenated!
- Honey Yogurt Facial Mask Combine equal parts honey and yogurt in a bowl, and stir well to combine. Apply evenly to the skin. Of course, using raw, organic honey and organic, plain yogurt will give you the most skin and health benefits, but the non-organic stuff will work, too. The health benefits of honey and yogurt are vast: honey has natural antiseptic properties and is a humectant (think hydrating and moisturizing), and yogurt contains lactic acid which works as a skin exfoliant. This mask will work to make your skin clear, hydrated, soft and bright!
- Citrus Sugar Scrub Mix 1 cup sugar with 1/2 cup olive oil and 2 TBSP’s of orange or lemon juice. Apply to rough or dry skin.This recipe can be altered a few ways: if you don’t have sugar, you can use salt, as salt has many great skin benefits. Also, the oil and citrus juice you use can vary. You can also add some zest from the lemon or orange to make the scrub more fragrant. This scrub is great for treating “winter skin” that is dry and dehydrated.
- Banana Hair Mask Combine 1 banana with 1 egg white, 2 TBSP’s olive oil, and 2 TBSP’s honey. Apply evenly to hair and comb through- leave on for at least 15 minutes.You may feel like you are baking banana bread with the ingredients for this hair mask, but all the ingredients are good for your hair. This mask will make your hair instantly more hydrated and shiny.
