Blepharoplasty, Eyelid Surgery
When your eyes make you look tired or show signs of age, surgery can be the best option to give you a new look. Blepharoplasty, or eyelid lift surgery, is used by men and women of all ages to change the appearance of the eyes by removing eye bags, reducing wrinkles and tightening the skin around the eye. If you are tired of looking tired or want to reverse the hands of time, an eye lift may be exactly what you need.
At Kalos Facial Plastic Surgery, LLC, we have performed many eyelid lift surgeries for our patients from Roswell and throughout the greater Atlanta metro area. Our dual board certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Benjamin Stong, brings a great amount of expertise and experience to our patients seeking to improve their appearance. Using the most advanced techniques and his own artistic talent, Dr. Stong has given our patients excellent results that look natural. Whether you are considering a complete facelift or just want to focus on the appearance of the eyes with blepharoplasty, Dr. Stong is the best choice for facial plastic surgery in the Atlanta area.
The eyes are one of the first places to see the ravages of time. The delicate skin can begin to wrinkle and sag from extensive use over the years. Fat and muscle can also droop, causing bags under the eyes that make the face look tired and older. Even younger people can have excess fat or skin under the eyes that make them look sad or continually exhausted. Blepharoplasty is a set of different surgical procedures that can correct these issues around the eyes for a more youthful, happy and energetic appearance.
Which Blepharoplasty Procedure is Right for You?
The blepharoplasty procedure you choose depends on your specific issues and the results you want Dr. Stong to achieve. Your age, genetic factors and lifestyle choices can all affect the skin, muscle and fat accumulation around the eyes. For some, only the skin is sagging or drooping. For others, the skin is still smooth, but puffiness or bags under the eye make them look tired. Others only have excess skin on the upper lid, hooding their eyes.
For our younger patients that may not need a complete eye lift, Dr. Stong uses a few different techniques to address eyelid skin or fat issues. A “skin pinch” technique can remove small amounts of excess skin under the eye with a minor incision. Transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty is also used for younger patients, removing fat through a tiny incision inside the pink or transconjunctival inner lower lid. These can be used separately or together, depending on the patient and the results they want to achieve.
Patients that want to achieve more youthful eyes may need a complete eyelid lift of the lower, upper or both lids. Upper eyelid lifts remove excess skin that has drooped over the eye through a tiny incision placed in the crease on the upper lid. Lower eye lifts can remove excess skin, muscle and fat that create deep bags and wrinkles while tightening and repositioning tissue for a more youthful appearance. Dr. Stong often recommends a fat transposition that moves fat from under the lower lid to the corner of the eye, smoothing the surface for a more natural appearance.
