Rhinoplasty, Nose Job Surgery
An over-sized, misshapen or injured nose can be a distracting feature when it does not blend in with the rest of a person’s face. Many people feel self-conscious about their nose, wishing it was less noticeable. Rhinoplasty, or a “nose job,” can be an option to remedy a nose that does not seem to blend in with other features, giving those who are self-conscious of their nose more self-confidence in their appearance.
While a “perfect” nose does not exist, there are noses that seem to fit better within the facial features. Since the nose is central on the face, it can be overpowering when it is oddly shaped or too large. A crooked nose or large hump can pull the eyes to this prominent feature. With rhinoplasty, the goal is to create balance in the face, allowing other features like the eyes, lips and cheekbones to be more noticeable while the nose blends into place.
At Kalos Facial Plastic Surgery LLC, we specialize in helping our patients from Peachtree City and throughout the Atlanta area achieve their ideal look. If you were born with a nose that does not seem to fit your face, or it has changed due to age or trauma, our experienced facial plastic surgeon can help remedy this through rhinoplasty. Dr. Benjamin Stong has many years of experience backed by extensive education and training. He is a dual board certified plastic surgeon in otolaryngology head and neck surgery and facial plastic surgery and reconstructive surgery, but it is not just his credentials that make him one of the best in his field. His attention to detail and surgical artistic flare create excellent results for our patients seeking rhinoplasty and other intricate cosmetic surgical procedures.
Types of Rhinoplasty
People seek a nose job, or rhinoplasty, for many different reasons. Rhinoplasty is most commonly performed to fix one of four issues: look, size, shape or breathing problems. In some cases, a nose job can address more than one issue. If a patient wants a nose that better blends with their other facial features but also suffers from sinus or breathing problems, both can be addressed during the procedure. Dr. Stong’s extensive training and experience allow him to repair functional aspects during the procedure while also reshaping or resizing the nose for a proportionate feature.
Beyond breathing issues and reducing the overall size of the nose, the most common changes requested to the shape or look of the nose include changing the shape of the tip or bridge. Noses with bulbous, hooked or overlong tips can be reshaped, while humps or a crooked bridge can be changed. Other issues addressed include changing the nostrils or narrowing the width of the nostrils.
Rhinoplasty can be performed using either open or closed methods. Dr. Ben Stong is experienced in both techniques, but open rhinoplasty is his preference when performing reshaping of the tip or overall appearance. Closed procedures are performed through the nostril and are adequate for changing the bridge of the nose but do not give the visibility of an open rhinoplasty. With the open technique, Dr. Stong can use his artistic eye to make intricate changes to the tip of the nose with precision. Dr. Stong also performs rhinoplasty revision surgeries for those who have already had a nose job but are unhappy with the results.
