It is hard to believe it’s Christmas Eve already! For those who celebrate Christmas (or any other winter holiday), we know how “slow” it can seem all year until…boom! It pops up on us and we feel anything but prepared. Hopefully by now, any last minute shopping has been done, there isn’t too much cooking to do, and you can remember the true reason for the season, and spend these next few days with those who mean the most to you.
On the topic of holiday cooking and food, we have some skin care ideas for you over the holidays that are DIY and can be made at home from ingredients you probably already have lying around your kitchen. Holiday beauty was never easier with our awesome tips below!
After overindulging on holiday food, your system will definitely need some detoxing. We have a wonderful recipe for detox water that will help cleanse your system and help reset your body’s natural pH/alkaline balance. Just combine 48 ounces of water with 2 medium cucumbers, 2 lemons, and 10-15 mint leaves. Drink throughout the day for a refreshing, recharging boost. To ensure the ingredients are thoroughly mixed, you can prepare the water the night before.
You almost certainly have olive oil in your kitchen, and for dry winter skin, we can’t think of a better moisturizer. It may seem weird at first to slather on olive oil, but trust us, it is a wonderful and natural moisturizer. Some of our other favorite moisturizers are coconut and argan oils. These you will find in specialty and health stores. Many lotions are heavily fragranced with long ingredient lists full of synthetic chemicals, and this just spells disaster for skin. Irritant and allergic dermatitis are common with highly synthetic products, and our best advice is stay as natural as you can, and use the best moisturizing agents for hydrators, which typically tend to be natural oils.
The last DIY project we have for you is extra fun and yummy. Make your own cinnamon vanilla sugar scrub from common kitchen ingredients: just combine brown sugar, vanilla extract, a touch of cinnamon, and olive oil and mix away! This is perfect for getting rid of dry winter skin and smoothing callouses.
Hope you enjoy and have a wonderful Christmas Eve, or at the very least a great holiday!
