It is impossible to deny that Marilyn Monroe is one of America’s most beautiful, glamorous stars of all time. Marilyn possessed such a striking beauty and presence and was no doubt blessed with amazing genes. It was often speculated during and after her lifetime that she had gone under the knife for plastic surgery, but this was never confirmed. Telling new evidence in the form of X-rays and doctor’s notes indicates that she did, indeed, have plastic surgery on her chin and most likely on her nose. These documents are set to be auctioned off at Julien’s Auction House in California, and some are guessing that the pieces will go for at least $20,000 to the lucky collector.
Dual Board certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon Benjamin Stong gave his opinion on the matter: “It appears that Marilyn Monroe almost certainly had chin enhancement surgery and nose surgery. Her chin appears fuller in later pictures of her which is indicative of a chin implant operation. The shape of her nose looks slightly different in her younger days and this could point to a rhinoplasty surgery.” The before and after photos of Marilyn and X-ray of her nose paint a picture that suggests she underwent both chin and nose surgery.
Unlike the Hollywood of today, in Marilyn’s time, there wasn’t the ever present paparazzi to capture photos of the starlet that would present further evidence. We think, however, based on the photos and records, it’s safe to say from the evidence we do have, that she most certainly had some work done. One thing is for sure: Marilyn is beautiful and timeless with and without cosmetic surgery.
