It’s hard to believe Thanksgiving is just two days away! For many people, traveling is a big part of their Thanksgiving plans, as they either have to drive or fly miles away to visit loved ones for the holiday. We have a few travel tips that we have provided for those traveling to help ensure your skin is in great condition following travel, and so that you are fresh faced and ready for the big upcoming holiday.
If you are flying, hydration is key. Drinking plenty of water is very important when flying at elevated altitudes. Our skin can suffer tremendously from the shift in elevation, as well. Drinking water will provide your skin cells with hydration from the inside out, but it is also important to use hydrating skin care products while flying. Products containing hyaluronic acid are wonderful. Hyaluronic acid can hold 1,000 times its own weight in water and is one of the most hydrating skin care ingredients known. It occurs naturally in our skin, and using a product with this ingredient is equivalent to giving your skin a big drink of water. I also love carrying on the mini Evian water spray bottles to spritz my face during the flight (La Roche-Posay also makes an amazing Thermal Spring Water- you’ll just want to make sure the bottle is small enough to carry on the plane).
Secondly, sun screen is always very important when traveling via plane or car. Make sure and use a sun screen that is broad spectrum, and has “physical block” ingredients like zinc or titanium. A sunscreen that is coupled with antioxidants is also wonderful as we know that antioxidants have the power to neutralize free radicals (such as UV rays, pollution, and second hand smoke). One product we love is Revision Skincare Intellishade tinted moisturizer/sunscreen. It has broad spectrum SPF 45, and contains tons of antioxidants and anti-aging ingredients. It even gives nice coverage for a tinted moisturizer, minimizing flaws without ever looking caked on or heavy.
Make sure your travel bag is stocked full of small sized skin care products. Even if you aren’t flying, it will help maximize space. You can purchase small, cheap containers to fill with your products. Also, depending on the climate of where you are going, make sure to bring appropriate skin care. For those lucky enough to make a beach vacation out of Thanksgiving, pack light weight products that won’t clog pores. For those going to snowy or cold destinations, bring thick moisturizers, some Aquaphor for your lips, and of course sun screen.
For bigger results before Thanksgiving, Botox, filler, and non invasive, anti-aging, facial laser treatments can do wonders. Laser facial treatments such as Laser Genesis has absolutely no downtime, and can be performed the day before a big event. Consult with the experts at Kalos to get holiday ready!
