We all remember the first time we saw Heidi Montag on MTV’s The Hills back in 2006. Over the years, her appearance has drastically changed, from having initial rhinoplasty surgery and breast augmentation in 2007, to undergoing ten cosmetic surgeries in one day in 2009 (including a brow lift, otoplasty/”ear pinning”, revision rhinoplasty, breast augmentation revision, chin reduction, fat injections, neck liposuction, abdominal liposuction, buttocks augmentation, and Botox). She allegedly revealed to People Magazine that she almost died from the Demerol medication administered during the procedures, as her breathing was drastically slowed.
Obviously, ten surgeries in one day is a lot to undergo for anyone. Heidi’s second breast augmentation surgery apparently used G-cup implants that weighed three pounds a piece. Heidi was already a very petite girl, so this was a huge alteration. She has stated recently that she suffered health problems as a result of her dramatically larger chest. She recently underwent another breast augmentation surgery, to reduce the size of her breasts to C-cups.
She has stated that since she had the breast implant reduction surgery, her neck and back feel much better. We say “more power to you, Heidi,” in being so open about her surgeries. She has definitely brought awareness to the plastic surgery world by being so candid about her various experiences in undergoing various surgical procedures. We are certainly pleased to hear that her health problems that were a result of implants that were too large have subsided and she is physically feeling much better. In plastic surgery, it is always great to know that many times, options exist to revise previous surgeries that the patient desired to correct.
Double board certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Benjamin Stong (who is not affiliated with Heidi Montag), stated, “I believe patient satisfaction is key when undergoing cosmetic surgery. If a patient is ever unsatisfied with the results of a surgery, and certainly if a surgery contributes to health problems as Heidi has stated happened in her individual case, it is refreshing to know that reversal options exist. I am very glad to see that she is happy with the result of her most recent procedure and that her overall health has improved as a result.”
If you are considering having plastic surgery, make sure to consult with an expert in the type of surgery you wish to have performed, and clearly communicate your goals with the surgeon. It is important to discuss at length the details of various surgeries, and what complications could potentially arise following various procedures.
