As you age, excess fat around the neck gets loose and droopy. This may lead you to look for ways to improve your appearance. Facial liposuction is a great solution. During this procedure, we will make a very small incision either under the chin or around the earlobe. Then a vacuum-like device will suck the fat from the cheeks and jowls
Preparing for Surgery
You’ll need to line up a driver to and from your surgery. Someone should stay with you afterward if you need assistance with something. Also, be prepared by shopping beforehand for some soft foods that don’t require a lot of chewing and are easy to swallow.
What to Expect After Surgery
You’ll be sent home with a pressure dressing wrapped around your face. A day or so after your procedure, you’ll visit with our facial plastic surgeon to have the bandage removed, and you’ll be able to look in the mirror for the first time.
Facial liposuction is a minimally invasive surgery that causes very little pain. Any discomfort after the surgery can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication. You’ll want to take it easy for the first few days to prevent unwanted bleeding.
There will likely be some noticeable bruising and swelling, which can last for up to two weeks. At about four days post-op you can return to work, but strenuous activity should be avoided for a full ten days.
After you’ve healed, if there even are any scars, they’ll be hardly noticeable.
